«Мы уже разработали основную технологию и сейчас работаем над приложениями,- рассказал профессор Герберт де-Смет. – Возможно, программа будет доступна уже через несколько лет».
В отличие от предыдущих разработок, где экран контактных линз был ограничен недостаточным для воспроизведения картинки числом пикселей, нынешняя использует изогнутую поверхность для передачи изображения.
«Это не научная фантастика, - восклицает профессор. – Конечно, линзы никогда не заменят экраны телевизоров, но в некоторых случаях они могут быть крайне полезны, например, чтобы служить, как навигатор, или передавать сообщения с телефона прямо нам в глаза».
Линзы также могут применяться в медицинских целях, в том числе для контроля светопропускания к сетчатке глаза в случае повреждения диафрагмы.
Если же вы хотите поменять цвет своих глаз, просто наденьте линзы и «раскрасьте» свои глаза в любой цвет радуги, подходящий к вашему настроению.
